Finding Stillness in the Waves

About
our company

Stillwaters Family Consulting LLC is the culmination of years spent walking alongside families, friends, and youth in detention and residential settings. The work began long before it had a name. It grew out of real conversations with young people who were searching for guidance, direction, and someone who would slow down long enough to truly see them.

Inside the corrections system, I often found myself limited by structures that measured behavior but rarely addressed the deeper emotional and relational needs beneath it. I saw a gap, not for another program, but for a steady and intentional presence that could help people make sense of their story and move toward who they were created to be. Stillwaters was built to meet that need.

Today, Stillwaters Family Consulting LLC exists to offer individuals and families a space where they can be seen without judgment and take intentional steps toward clarity, identity, and resilience. The work blends practical tools with grounded relational support and a faith-informed understanding of personal growth. My aim is simple. I want to create a place where things can settle, where people can breathe, and where steady change becomes possible.

Stillwaters is rooted in the belief that some needs call for patience and restraint, while others invite us to rise and become the change we hope for. This balance, knowing when to be still and when to step forward, is the heartbeat of everything we do.

The Meaning Behind the Name

The name Stillwaters comes from Psalm 23, where David writes, “He leads me beside still waters.” That picture has shaped my understanding of what real guidance looks like. Still waters are not rushed, chaotic, or demanding. They are steady. They are safe. They are a place where the soul can breathe again.

In my years of working with youth and families, I saw how often people were expected to grow while still living in noise and pressure. What they needed was the kind of calm, grounded presence described in that psalm. A place where they could slow down, be seen without judgment, and regain clarity.

Stillwaters represents that kind of space. It reflects the belief that God often meets us in quiet, steady moments, and that some needs call for patience while others invite us to rise and take intentional steps forward. The name captures the heart of this work: creating room for people to settle, reflect, and move toward the person God is shaping them to become.
